Like most of Monster's headphones, the Solo HDs include things like the ControlTalk feature. Inside the time I've been testing these I've listened into a wide variety of tunes from hard rock to hip-hop to Broadway musicals (don't judge!) to painless listening. Unlike the DiddyBeats and Lady Gaga Heartbeats, the Beats Solo sound fantastic across the musical spectrum. Up near where the cord connects towards the headphones is really a modest controller that facilitates playback control and a mic for hands-free calling. The volume/playback control aspect will only function using the iPhone and iPod. Nonetheless, the mic works on other brands of smart phone (but not all). I've been applying it with my HTC Evo 4G and discover that I can talk at a standard quantity and be heard without getting to hold the mic closer to my mouth. And since the 'phones block a good deal of noise, I can walk down a active New York City street and not need to scream to become heard or strain to understand what's becoming stated.
